It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed her side required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
