In a surprising partnership that challenges traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Uncovered

According to the authorized release, "A mysterious confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of prohibited practices and monstrous changes echo through the obscurity." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret group.

The questline focuses on "bizarre trials and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Transformations

The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Features

Players who accomplish the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside numerous objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This update also brings the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
